Size Wise: How Does It Work?

Simply by comparing the size charts of brands with the physical measurements of size-conscious shoppers, we can find the right product for you.

Using this process, we size-shop on your behalf. The machine learning algorithm curates the size and fit of an item and then displays a size guide with additional details such as brand information, product specs, and product features.

We offer a size-friendly shopping experience that is respectful, private, and efficient. With our online shopping service, we make it easy for shoppers to find the right size and fit.

We enable you to find the perfect fit by offering a large variety of brands, sizes, and styles. By learning how you shop, we collect information about your size, fit, and style preferences. Based on your physical measurements, this data will determine your unique body shape in order to provide you with the best options.

With our tools and services, size won’t matter! Now catalogs are organized according to your size preferences, and only the sizes you want will be shown.

Size Wise Works With Retailers To Serve You

The customer is always at the forefront of everything we do. In order to do this, we work with retailers to provide you with a wider selection of products and sizes.

As an affiliate, we earn commissions from qualifying purchases. Therefore, our services are free of charge to you. This gives you a wider range of options when choosing clothes that fit, making size one of the last things on your mind while shopping.

Size Standards Throughout History

The origins of ready-to-wear are unknown. Clothing production became industrialized in the 18th century. As a result, companies made clothes for customers who wanted an outfit without having to visit a tailor or dressmaker.

The history of size labels for clothes is very interesting. It has changed quite a bit over time, now it goes far beyond just sizing garments!

Clothing Size Conversion

Tailors used to make custom clothing for everyone before the ready-to-wear revolution. Before mass-production manufacturing, clothes were made one at a time. There was no fabrication facility that could churn out multiple items of clothing in rapid succession so they had to be produced by hand from start to finish.

Following this period, people are believed to have worn clothing that fit their specific needs and size measurements, depending on what they did that particular day or week. A merchant would wear a different type of pants than an entertainer or worker.

Despite the fact that size standards are no longer as specific and have instead become more uniform, we are finding ways to tailor standards, sizes, and fit to your needs.

How Size Wise Are We Today

The U.S. retail industry has been experiencing an annual increase in returns, which have reached a staggering 428 billion dollars per year!

How To Measure Clothing

It’s tempting to simply blame the holidays for increased returns, but there are a few other factors.

Due to vanity sizing, sizing charts are becoming more complex. Retailers use vanity sizing to label clothes as smaller than their actual size, according to CNN Money. In addition to encouraging customers to buy, this tactic also makes them feel good.

Size diversity and complexity are increasing. Size diversity refers to the size differences between people, and size complexity refers to the size differences within clothing brands. In order to shop online and in-store, consumers need a new way to find clothes that fit well.

Returns And Their Impact On Online Shopping Services And The Environment

For items returned, retailers charge a restocking fee of 30 to 40%. Brands and retailers face a large financial impact. While size diversity isn’t going away, it’s time to rethink your shopping strategy.

You might have bought clothes that are too big or too small because they were on sale. Long-term, it is not only harmful to our wallets, but also to the environment.

Returns that don’t fit end up in landfills. The United States generates over 5 billion pounds of waste annually as a result of returns, which does not include the incineration of returns.

88% of consumers believe returns are returned to the shelf and resold to the next consumer, according to Ann Starodaj, head of sustainability at Optoro. Retailers sometimes return clothing to brands. It can then be stored in their warehouses until it is ready to be sold in outlets.

Additionally, apparel may be sent overseas to be purchased by people in developing countries before being shipped back to the US as excess or seconds.

New research from Bizrate Insights suggests that 55% of consumers reported size as the reason why they returned their online purchases, followed by quality and fit with 42%. In general, clothing and shoes bought online typically have the highest rates with 30 to 40% returned.

47.5% of male customers report they regularly purchase more than one size of an item to get the right fit. Similarly, nearly 1/4 of female customers report they regularly purchase more than six sizes of an item to get the right fit, a practice commonly known as bracketing.

Find Clothes That Work For You, Not Against You

Almost all retailers have different size charts and sizing methods based on the brand. There are some size charts that do not include plus-size ranges, so those who wear plus sizes cannot use their size chart alone without considering other factors like stretch measurements for materials and garment construction (including fabric weight), ease of movement, style preferences, and fit preferences.

Clothing is an integral part of our lives. What we wear has a profound effect on the way we feel about ourselves, both physically and emotionally.
